The dramatic adventures of the first volume teased a bigger bad working behind the scenes, and it looks like Birds of Prey Vol. 2 continues to carry that plot. Given that our Barbara Gordon is the first target, it’s hard not to feel a bit invested in how things turn out.
So, I read Star: Birth of a Dragonas when it came out in issue format. Apparently, I forgot to come back around and review the full volume! Forgive my delay. (Side note: you can read my individual issue reviews on Monkeys Fighting Robots.)
Whew. I won't lie: Captain Marvel Vol. 10 is an intense read. In truth, the entire Revenge of the Brood arc has been one heavy-hitting moment to the next. Kelly Thompson has always been good about that – creating an emotional arc that ties back to Carol's past.
Captain Marvel Vol. 9 contains a single-issue plot and the beginning of a new plot arc; Revenge of the Brood.
Carol Danvers, Hazmat, Spider-Woman, and several X-Men are dealing with a Brood attack. They cannot leave until they safely recover their two missing allies (Binary and Rogue). But things are about to get a whole lot worse than they feared. Given Carol's experience with the Brood, this is saying something...
