Wow. Okay. I was not expecting such a twist in Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider. One moment, we’re in New York of Earth-616, dealing with a new set of antagonists (complete with a potential romantic interest), the next we’re off in space, dealing with Cosmic Cubes and Loki.
Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider has been putting Gwen through the ringer; this latest issue is no exception. This series has focused on Gwen and her struggle to get her feet on the ground (or hands on the web) and figure out her path as a superhero in her own right.
Gwen has been making leaps and bounds in her life as of late. She's holding it together after the aftermath of Spider-Geddon, she's working on a work/life balance, and she might even have a boyfriend. But she's still got one major lesson left to learn when it comes to being an outted superhero.
Gwen Stacy, aka Ghost-Spider, hails from Earth 65. In this universe, things and people tend to be vastly different from what we're used to seeing. Ghost-Spider #7 further reinforces that fact as we get to know two variants of fan-favorite heroes.
Ghost-Spider #6 is a different sort of issue when Gwen Stacy gives herself a chance to breathe for a few moments. Though that won’t stop her from stumbling across trouble – that seems to be a talent of hers.
Multiple universes can result in many strange dilemmas, such as having to face off against two copies of the same antagonist. That's probably not something Gwen Stacy, Ghost-Spider, was expecting to face. And yet that is what she comes up against in Ghost-Spider #5.
The tale continues in Ghost-Spider #4. Gwen Stacy, aka Ghost-Spider, aka Spider-Gwen, has finally regained balance in her life. She's now successfully juggling her social life, hero life, school, and band. And she's doing so flawlessly.
Ghost-Spider #3 brings us a confident and happy Gwen Stacy, perhaps a little too confident, as she seems to keep tempting fate. And you know that never works well for anybody wearing the Spider Mantle.
Gwen is back! Again! This time she’s back with a new title and name. It’s something that they’ve been building for over a year now, but it’s still exciting to see it in action. Now it’s time for Gwen to rock the new Ghost-Spider name.
