Wow. Scarlet Witch Vol. 1 is a roller coaster; I can tell you that much! A couple of distinct arcs occur within this volume besides the obvious setting up shop concept. It made for an action-packed and fascinating volume.
The Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, has put herself between Darcy Lewis and Scythia. One is oath-bound to hunt and kill the other, which means we're on the precipice of yet another battle for the Scarlet Witch.
The time has finally come. It's time to learn why Darcy Lewis ran away, winding up as The Scarlet Witch's shopkeeper. Sure, that sounds like a fun (if dangerous) job, but that can't be the real reason why Darcy is here. As it turns out – there's a hunt happening, with Darcy as the prey.
Most fans now understand that Scarlet Witch has opened a new shop. This shop just so happens to have a very special door that brings the desperate directly to her. This is how Wanda hopes to help those in need. The latest person to wander through her door is from Sub-Atomica, meaning Wanda is about to get very tiny to deal with this latest threat.
Ahhhh! Yes! Scarlet Witch has always been one of my favorite comic series, and I've been missing it in recent years. So you can imagine my joy at the release of Scarlet Witch #1. Written by Steve Orlando, this issue has a ton of artists backing it up: Sara Pichelli, Elisabetta D'Amico, Matthew Wilson, and VC's Cory Petit. I want to thank each and every one of them for bringing my favorite character back to her own solo series.
Have you ever wanted to see the Scarlet Witch duke it out in the dreamscape? Well, I have good news for you – you need to read Scarlet Witch #2! Thus far, this series has turned out to be everything I could have hoped or dreamed of (pun intended. Sorry, not sorry).
