Review: Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1: Red Wave

Okay, there are a few key phrases you can waggle in my face that will get me to read an X-Men series. “Rogue-led” is one of them, and “Written by Gail Simone” is another. So, I knew I was going to check out Uncanny X-Men the moment it was announced.

Manga Monday: Play It Cool, Guys Vol. 1

I picked up Play It Cool, Guys Vol. 1 on a whim, because it sounded cute and funny. And it is! This series seems to be exactly what it promised: quirky nerds playing it cool on the surface, while having an absolute freak-out in their heads. Too relatable.

Review: The New Girl

As a huge fan of Cassandra Calin, I had to check out The New Girl. I don’t care if I’m not the target audience, there’s no way I was going ot miss it. The New Girl tells a relatable story about a young girl who just had her entire life uprooted, and during one of the most vulnerable times in her life (puberty).

Review: Exceptional X-Men Vol. 1

Six new series popped up at the beginning of From the Ashes (and many others followed), including Exceptional X-Men. This team offered a slightly different take on the mutant team thing, focusing on the newest generation, with unwilling teachers at the helm.

Review: Cryptid Club

Cryptid Club is more of a slice-of-life style comic, and I love it. Created by Sarah Andersen, I was always going to make time to read the whole set. It just took me longer than intended.

Manga Monday: Junji Ito’s Cat Diary: Yon & Mu

Junji Ito is a horror manga artist, which explains why the eyes in Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu are pure nightmare fuel. Seriously, I couldn’t get over them, and that kept me from getting too invested in the cat-themed hilarity. WHy? I kept waiting for something to go horrifically wrong.
