While X-Force was not my favorite of the six original From the Ashes series, I don’t think it deserved to get canceled. I was enjoying learning about different characters, and X-Force Vol. 2 really reminded me of that fact. The creative team did a great job of rushing to give us the finale we deserved, and I’m sad we missed out on any of it. Especially if it had more Sage content.
Review: Love Everlasting Vol. 1
If you love horror, romance (with tragedy), and time loops, Love Everlasting Vol. 1 is the story for you. It’s a little bit like Groundhog Day, if Groundhog Day revolved around falling in love.
Review: X-Force Vol. 1: Fractures
I’ll admit, I was a bit on the fence about X-Force when I first started reading it. Mostly, I was keeping up with it because I was desperately trying (and somewhat failing) to keep up with all the comics in From the Ashes.
Review: Love, Misha
Okay, so you pitch a graphic novel to me and you promise it’ll be just Spirited Away, with a dash of A Very Goofy Movie vibes, and you just know I’m gonna read it. So, I did! Love, Misha has some very solid comps, but it lives up to those set expectations.
Review: X-Factor Vol. 2: Know Your Enemy
Man, I thought the first volume was chaotic (and admittedly fun). X-Factor Vol. 2 leans even heavier into the commentary, satire, and yes, chaos. It’s a mixed bag, as there are some elements that I really enjoyed.
Review: Nocterra Vol. 1: Full Throttle Dark
If post-apocalyptic horror is your cup of tea, Nocterra is the series for you. I may have only gotten through the first volume (so far), but I can already tell that much! Nocterra Vol. 1 is a heavy-hitting and compelling introduction to this dark world.
Review: X-Factor Vol. 1: Please Like and Share
The fall of Krakoa shook everyone, readers and characters alike. At least, that’s how it felt to this reader. So, naturally, I tried to make a point of checking out all the new From the Ashes series, including X-Factor.
Review: Suitor Armor Vol. 2
If you are not reading this series, you’re seriously missing out. Suitor Armor is an enchanting series revolving around a fairy in hiding (Lucia) inside the palace walls of a kingdom very much at war with the fairies. Obviously, there are layers to this story, but it’s so fun and compelling all in one.
Review: Uncanny X-Men Vol. 2: The Dark Artery
Where the last volume introduced new characters and brought a different team together, Uncanny X-Men Vol. 2 took everything a step further. We still have our favorites on the team (have I mentioned how much I love having a Rogue-led team?), but things are morphing and changing.
Review: The Great British Bump-Off
Okay, so I’m a huge fan of John Allison and Max Sarin. I also adore Agatha Christie and the Great British Baking Show, so I was primed to love this series from the start. As such, I might be biased when I say that The Great British Bump-Off was a hilarious read.
