I've read most of the stories collected in Captain Marvel: Game On, but I clearly missed one or two! As such, I was thrilled to sit down and read them all. This is the volume to read if you love Carol, Flerkins, or fun chaos!
I love checking out new graphic novels by creatives I (personally) have never heard of. Wolfpitch was a unique and entertaining delight, with the perfect blend of music, paranormal elements, and compelling characters.
I'll be honest with you: Captain Marvel Vol. 1: The Omen wasn't what I expected. Though I don't entirely know what I was expecting (maybe more politics? The whole gala vibe is probably the reason for that).
I'm not gonna lie – I've been meaning to dig into Nothing Special for WAY too long. So, obviously, I was thrilled when I saw that Nothing Special Vol. 1 was on the publication lineup. It's the perfect excuse to get caught up (in theory).
If you're a fan of folklore, retellings, and graphic novel formatting for horror stories, you'll love Whisper of the Woods. It's chilling and compelling in equal measure, which is a unique art style. By the end, you'll wish there was more.
Wow. There's a lot to unpack from She-Hulk Vol. 4. We have hero-drama, friend-drama, relationship-drama, and even Hulk-drama. Drama is apparently the name of the game in this volume, and that's a bit of good and bad.
I don't know why I was SO excited for the release of The Innkeeper Chronicles: Clean Sweep The Graphic Novel - I read it each week as it updated on Tapas. Yet I was still really excited to get it in my hands and have the chance to re-read it.
So, there are many reasons why I wanted to read X-23 Vol. 1. The two dominant reasons are this: X-23 is my favorite X-Men, and Marjorie Liu is one of my favorite authors. This is a bit of a match made in heaven for me. I'm surprised I hadn't previously read it (my comic TBR is so out of control).
So, I read Star: Birth of a Dragonas when it came out in issue format. Apparently, I forgot to come back around and review the full volume! Forgive my delay. (Side note: you can read my individual issue reviews on Monkeys Fighting Robots.)
Wow. I wish I could leave my review at "wow" because that accurately sums up how I felt upon finishing The Cull Vol. 1. This book is A LOT, but in the best ways possible. It's dark, emotional, tense, and fascinating, all in one.
