It's time for another reincarnation manga, as Her Majesty's Swarm Vol. 1 throws the leading lady into the video game she cherished. While we've all probably dreamed of becoming the leading characters in the stories we love so much, it is unlikely we'd want those wishes to be taken so literally.
Manga Monday: Bootsleg Volume 1
I'm going to be honest here; I didn't know what I was getting into with Bootsleg Volume 1. It had a dark and foreboding cover, which caught my attention. Still, I was not prepared for what I found on these pages.
Review: Bunny Mask: The Chipping of the Teeth
Do you ever see a trade cover and just know that you have to read it? That's what happened to me when I saw Bunny Mask: The Chipping of the Teeth. This is a cover that screams to be read. At least, it is for those that enjoy horror and weirdness. Written by Paul Tobin, with artwork by Andrea Mutti (art/colors) and Taylor Esposito (letters), Bunny Mask: The Chipping of the Teeth is a twisted tale of man and the things of nightmares.
Review: Miles to Go
Miles to Go is the latest graphic novel to come from the mind of B. Clay Moore, Stephen Molnar, and Thomas Mauer. It is impossible to run from one's past forever in this story. Eventually, there's nowhere else to run.
Review: Out of Body
For those looking for a new murder mystery, there's always Out of Body. This particular graphic novel feels like Dorian Gray crossed with the earliest scenes of The Walking Dead, with a dash of thriller/mystery for good measure.
Review: Silver City
Have you ever wondered what the ever after would look like? Well, the creators (Olivia Cuartero-Briggs, Luca Merli, and Dave Sharpe) behind Silver City have, and this is what they've come up with. To be upfront and clear: Silver City is probably not suited for all readers. It covers dark and heavy subjects, including death (obviously), gun violence, suicide, rape, and mass causalities.
Review: Radium Girls
The odds are good that you've heard of the Radium Girls (Ghost Girls'), at least in passing. This is the true story of those women and everything they went through. Written and illustrated by Cy, Radium Girls gives their story a voice and visual elements.
Review – Farmhand #15 (Image Comics)
After a short break, the ghastly tale of plants and implants is back in Farmhand #15. This is a world that has been steadily getting darker with time, and it looks like it'll brighten up anytime soon. So if you're looking for an original horror worth diving into, this is one to check out.
Review: Emma Dreams of Stars
It isn't every day that you get to see a graphic novel based on a true story, so when Emma Dreams of Stars popped up on my radar, I knew I had to give it a try. Created by Julia Pavlowitch, Kan Takahama, and Emmanuelle Maisonneuve, Emma Dreams of Stars tells the story of a former Michelin Guide Inspector.
Manga Monday: The Abandoned Reincarnation Sage Volume 1
Yep! It's another reincarnation tale, which I can't get enough of. I'm going to blame My Next Life as a Villainess for that one. The Abandoned Reincarnation Sage Volume 1 is the latest in a long line of manga with this trend.
