Summary:
In a world where monsters and sorcerers are real, there are naturally experts trained to deal with these problems. Enter Caiman. He was cursed by a sorcerer, trapping him with a reptilian head (really). Now he is immune to magic, and he uses that to his advantage.
Then there’s Nikaido, Caiman’s best friend. She doesn’t have a reptilian head, but she’ll still hunt sorcerers. Together, they’re hoping to find the sorcerer who did this to Caiman and undo his curse for good.
Review:
I have been hearing about Dorohedoro for years. Seriously, it comes up on so many recommended lists, especially when I’m searching for something to read between some of my favorite series. So I decided to give it a go.
Dorohedoro Vol. 1 isn’t afraid to throw readers headfirst into the action and adventure. It’s chaotic, bloody, and mysterious. The characters are quirky and badass in equal measure, so it’s not hard to see the potential in their story.
Then there are the magic users, who don’t seem to fit into any one definition or box. They’re twisted, strange, or mean. Perhaps there are good ones out in the universe, but they don’t make an appearance in Dorohedoro Vol. 1.
Dorohedoro is already proving to be an incredibly unique series. I don’t know why it keeps coming up in comp lists, because I’m not sure this series can be compared to anything on the market.
Highlights:
- Fantasy Horror
- Seinen
- Monsters & Magic
Will I continue the series? Maybe

It’s my favorite manga and I only read a few. My favorite and it’s not endless – so I read seldom a new chapter, so it will last long enough till the end of time.
