Summary:

There’s this assumption that everyone wants to be cool, but only the people who don’t try hard get to perfect the look. Right? Wrong. This group of seemingly cool guys is really a bunch of nerds; they’ve just mastered the act.

Review:

I picked up Play It Cool, Guys Vol. 1 on a whim, because it sounded cute and funny. And it is! This series seems to be exactly what it promised: quirky nerds playing it cool on the surface, while having an absolute freak-out in their heads. Too relatable.

Interestingly, the characters involved don’t all fit in the same age group. So there’s a surprising amount of variety in the stories, but they fit together pretty well. However, the skips and jumps do make for a slightly slower-paced story.

While Play It Cool, Guys Vol. 1 is fun, I’m not sure it’s for me. It falls more under the quick laugh category than a series I want to stick with in the long run.

Highlights:

  • Slice-of-Life
  • Playing It Cool
  • Comedy

Will I continue the series? Nah
