Summary:
You know how the story goes: a young woman in a horrible situation wakes up one day to find herself in a new world—complete with a new face! Usually, this second chance at life is a dream come true.
Not for Penelope. She’s the unwanted Daughter of a Duke, and having just finished playing this game (The Duke’s Super Love Project), she knows just how lethal her future can get. Somehow, she’ll have to find a way to escape this horrible situation. At least she has some insight into what events to avoid.
Review:
Ahhhh! It’s here! I am obsessed with Villains Are Destined to Die, so I’m psyched to be reading the next volume of this series. I’m currently in the process of binge-reading my way through it again on Tapas, in the hopes that I can get ahead of the manga volume releases (it’s taking too long!).
I was not expecting this. Villains Are Destined to Die Vol. 7 throws Penelope into a wild adventure, complete with magic, Lailan’s political schemes, and two potential romantic interests on opposite sides. It’s a lot to take in, and I’m honestly surprised by how things unfolded. I’m also shocked by how these turns of events made me feel.
Eckle’s character arc reminds me a lot of how White Wolf’s Vampire: The Masquerade (the RPG) handled unstable ghouls. Their loyalty may know no bounds, but that doesn’t mean it’ll present in predictable ways. Eckle may be close to maxed out for how he feels about Penelope, but that doesn’t mean she’ll agree with how he wants to handle that emotion.
I’m so bummed I’m caught up with what’s readily available in volume format. I adore this series and just want to keep reading.
