Summary:
You know how the story goes. A high school girl wakes up to a new life – quite literally, for she’s been reborn as Catarina Claes, a villainess and spoiled daughter of a duke. In other words, a big pain in the butt.
It’s just one kidnapping after another, at least for those around Catarina Claes. This time it isn’t our lovely protagonist who has gone missing – but her adoring brother. Catarina will stop at nothing to find out what has happened to him.
Review:
Poor Catarina. It seems like every time her life is back to normal (well, her version of normal), something else happens. On that note, My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 8 wastes no time throwing readers back into the action – of her missing brother.
This volume is different in that it is pretty different. There’s a heavy focus on Keith initially, showing us flashbacks and more. The insight into his life is nice, and I hope all the characters get more moments like these (maybe minus the kidnapping bit).
While the main arc ends in a bit of a cliffhanger (I can’t wait to see how that goes), that doesn’t mark the end of this volume. My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 8 has two stories, the second of which is much lighter…and more typical of Catarina’s luck and life.
Seeing an antagonist that fits the more classical elements of My Next Life as a Villainess (IE, somebody who sees Catarina as a villainess) was a lot of fun. More than that, it was interesting to see how the love interests worked together to handle the situation.
