Summary:
Akira Tachibana is seventeen years old and has never really known what it’s like to be truly passionate about something. Her life has been quiet and calm – much like her own demeanor. Yet she can’t seem to take her eyes off her manager – a kind and older gentleman.
She knows it isn’t reasonable to fall in love with him, but as the saying goes, you can’t help who you love. It’s probably his kind mannerisms, even though everyone else would rather make fun of him for being too spineless.
Review:
Okay, so I probably should have read the description a bit more before diving into After the Rain Vol. 1. Admittedly, I didn’t love the plot right off the bat. Still, I did try to give it a fair chance, especially as they made it clear that the romance would always be doomed because of the age difference.
Overlooking the elephant in the room, my biggest problem with After the Rain Vol. 1 is that I just didn’t care. Despite Akira being the primary perspective, we don’t really get to know her all that well. Therefore, it’s really hard to care about her and her budding crush.
Likewise, while I appreciate that Masami is a kind manager, I didn’t care for him much either. Don’t get me wrong – I didn’t hate him. I just didn’t care. That’s what the whole problem comes back around to.
