Top Ten Tuesday: Isekai

Welcome to the very first Top Ten Tuesday! Well, my first. This series has been around for ages on countless book blogs. Now it’s time for me to give it a try! For my first list, I’ll be covering the Top Ten Isekai. The list will start with my favorites, but since I don’t believe I’ve read ten or more (hoping to change that after this list), I’ll wander out into the community favorites.

  1. Villains Are Destined to Die
You know how the story goes: a young woman in a horrible situation wakes up one day to find herself in a new world—complete with a new face! Usually, this second chance at life is a dream come true. Not for Penelope. She’s the unwanted Daughter of a Duke, and having just finished playing this game (The Duke’s Super Love Project), she knows just how lethal her future can get.
  2. My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
One day, Katarina took a rather hard hit on the head. That’s not terribly out of the ordinary for an active child, even the daughter of a Duke. Strangely, the bump she took reminded her of her past life. The important thing to take away is that she recognized the life she’s currently living – for she had played that plot in a game of all things! Worse yet, she’s the villain in that game, doomed to die no matter the chosen path.
  3. Your Throne
Lady Medea Solon is used to getting her way in life. She may be known as a villainess to many – but that’s because she’s unafraid to scheme and fight for what she wants. Naturally, when a young woman takes her place as betrothed to the prince, Medea has to do something about it. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned.
  4. Villainesses Have More Fun
Sojin’s life was far from easy. So when she wakes up in a new body, she won’t exactly complain. Moreover, she’s now in the body of the duke’s daughter – Reilynn Candmion. She’s rich and meant to be the villainess in this tale. Maybe she can have some fun along the way – and stay alive.
  5. The Villainess is a Marionette
As the story goes – a girl wakes up in a new body. Said body belongs to Kayena Hill, the infamous villainess in this tale. She’s beautiful, sure, but she’s destined to die. She’ll have to thwart these plans and play her part well.
  6. Who Made Me A Princess
We’ve heard the story before one day, a girl wakes up in a body that isn’t hers. Only, now it sort of is. This time, the girl’s name is Athanasia, and she will have a lot of trouble staying alive if the book she read (in her past life) is any indication. You see, she may be the daughter of a king, but he’s a brutal and violent king.
  7. Flirting with the Villain’s Dad
As the story goes – a girl wakes up in a new body. The story is familiar…too familiar. She’s in “Bridgette Wants to be Happy!” There’s another problem – she’s twenty years before the main plot, and the character she’s been reborn into doesn’t make it to the point of the actual series. Time to get to surviving!
  8. That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime
Mikami’s life hasn’t gone quite the way he planned – or hoped. Sure, he has a decent job (even if it is going nowhere). But that’s about all he has to brag about. Unfortunately, his life is about to go further downhill when he gets in the way of a man wielding a knife. The good news is that Mikami woke up. The bad news is that he didn’t do so in his home world. He’s now in a fantasy world – and he’s a slime!
  9. I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability
Prince Lloyd was lucky enough to be reincarnated with all his memories – which means he was born instantly knowing that he had a deep love for magic. Ten years later, he’s still obsessed with learning everything he can about magic, spellcasting, and any other detail that could ever come to mind.
  10. Ascendance Of A Bookworm: I’ll Do Anything To Become A Librarian
All she has ever wanted to do is spend time with her books. She even made the mistake of joking about how she wanted to die under a pile of books. Unfortunately, that wish came true. Oops. Now she’s in a new life, a new body. She goes by the name of Myne and worst of all – there are no books in this new world!

So, it turns out that I’ve actually read more than ten isekai! That’s not something I would have expected, so I’m glad I was forced to sort of count/list them out here.
