Summary:
Who here doesn’t secretly have a very nerdy obsession? On the outside, Narumi and Hirotaka are totally normal (read: boring). They’re cute, professional, and get along great! No wonder everybody thinks they’re a couple.
The truth is, though, they’re both otakus. The only people who know their secret is each other. So they must run to the other whenever they want to relish in a fandom with a friend. Who wouldn’t love a friend like that?
Review:
An awkward romantic comedy? Sign me up! But seriously, Wotakoi Vol. 1 sounded like such a fun (and funny) series to check out. I dove in without reading too much about it because I wanted to be surprised.
It is a fun series, I’ll give you that! It’s also exactly what it promises to be – two otaku interacting in the “real” world and their private lives. It’s cute, funny, and not all that deep. Granted, it doesn’t need to be.
The story reads more like a slice-of-life comic, which works well here. Depending on the story, some characters are more relatable than others. I’d say that Wotakoi Vol. 1 is worth the read and lives up to the premises.
Highlights:
- Contemporary Romance
- Slice-of-Life
- Comedy
Will I continue the series? Nah
