Book Summary:

Maomao spent the earliest parts of her life training in herbal medicine. She had a path in life that she loved. Unfortunately, that was all ripped away from her when she was captured and sold to the inner palace.

It’s safe to say that there’s always something going on within the Inner Palace, as Maomao has learned the hard way. However, her most recent adventure will take place outside the Palace, as Jinshi has asked her to come along for a hunting trip.

My Review:

This is my favorite volume of the series, thus far. If you’ve read it, you probably know why! The Apothecary Diaries Vol. 12 perfectly balances drama, romantic potential, and comedy. So it’s perfection.

This volume contains a wealth of content. There’s traveling, politics, some teasers about Jinshi’s history, and of course, the tension. Let’s just say that Jinshi x Maomao shippers were treated well this volume!

The Apothecary Diaries Vol. 12 kicks off a new layer of mysteries, and if it follows the usual pattern, things will continue to ramp up until it hits an explosive level. I know I’m behind on getting to this point. The events here already happened in the anime, so it’s probably not even a huge spoiler concern at this point.

My biggest takeaway from The Apothecary Diaries Vol. 12? Randomly saying “frog” is a new inside joke for my household. If you know, you know.
