Summary:
Fall down, get back up. That is something that Poison Ivy has always been good at. She recently had to rebuild her life and powers from the ground up, and now she’s using that to fuel a sense of rediscovery.
This has, one way or another, taken Poison Ivy on a unique path, starting with signing up for a big fracking company out in the middle of nowhere. It probably isn’t hard to guess what her plan will be for this town.
Review:
Poison Ivy may not be on a quest to destroy all of humanity (for the moment), but that doesn’t mean she’s found her place in the world. She knows there’s more she needs to be doing, but finding the balance is the trick.
That brings us to Poison Ivy Vol. 2, another volume about Poison Ivy trying to figure out how to best protect plant life. Each step forward seems to be unintentionally bringing her closer to the past, and that is opening new doors into Ivy’s soul.
Poison Ivy Vol. 2 feels a little bit like a few separate adventures, as Ivy runs from one place to the next, solving problems, saving plants, and then moving on. However, she does have a new ally on her side, Janet from HR. There’s plenty of comic relief there, plus some potential for romantic drama.
This series dives deep into the psychedelic artwork, and it is so striking. The first volume hit that aesthetic hard, and I didn’t think Poison Ivy Vol. 2 could match (or beat) it, but I was wrong.
