Summary:

A small town in Wisconsin has been plagued by monsters, and they don’t even know it. It all began when kids went missing. Then they found the bodies. Now, in the middle of assisting grieving families, this is about to take a turn for the worse.

That probably doesn’t even feel possible at this point, but Erica Slaughter knows the truth. The monster that was terrorizing the town was a mother, and while she is now dead, her children are ready to start their hunt.

Review:

Whew! Another heavy-hitting installment to this series. Once again, I find myself appreciating the re-reading experience, as I’m picking up on different details than my previous time through the series.

Somehow, Something is Killing the Children Vol. 2 has managed to up the ante. Now, instead of one hungry monster, there are many more, and that could spell disaster for the entire town. In particular, I want to acknowledge the build-up in this volume, as it is perfect. The tension rises, and you don’t quite know when the floodgates will open.

This volume also gives a bit more insight into the Order of St. George. At a glance, they may seem like the heroes of any tale, being professional monster hunters. However, one cameo from them and it’s quickly clear that things are not what they appear to be. I’m loving it.

The artwork in Something is Killing the Children Vol. 2 is absolutely striking. Horrifying, but striking. The colors are vibrant, which makes the gore pop out (sorry, not sorry). Admittedly, if horror isn’t your cup of tea, the art and writing are probably going to prove too much for you.

  • Monsters Are Real
  • Monster Hunting
