Summary:
Monica Everett is one of the most talented witches of her generation: the problem is that she doesn’t see herself that way. She created and mastered the art of uncharted mage craft, something that had never been done before. This was enough to induct her into the Seven Sages, and life has not been as peaceful and quiet as she would have liked since then.
Now, Monica has been tasked with infiltrating a prestigious school in order to protect the Second Prince. How she’s supposed to keep him from harm and maintain her cover is anybody’s guess.
Review:
Have I mentioned how I’ve recently become obsessed with Secrets of the Silent Witch? I first got addicted through the anime, but have since started reading both the manga and the light novels. It’s that good of a series, I promise.
Secrets of the Silent Witch Vol. 2 is a solid sequel to the series. It does a lot of heavy-lifting, helping us get to know more about Monica, the secondary characters, and even the politics of the school (which is really a microcosm of the kingdom, right?).
This second volume also makes it clear who the potential romantic interests will be, and even the potential archetypes have become clear. Though you may want to wait a bit longer before deciding who you’ll want to root for. I’m holding out on my decision.
This series continues to shine in its gentle, magical, and endearing ways. It’s not one of those series that will stand out against climactic hits like MHA, but it absolutely has earned a soft spot in my heart. It’s so creative and intelligent, and I have a feeling it’s just going to get better with time.
