Summary:
Long have the X-Men fought for – and against – humanity. They had more than their fair share of losses, so it’s understandable that they decided it was time for a change. Enter Krakoa. Now everything seems perfect.
Enter the new squad of heroes, for missions must be run for the sake of all mutant-kind. How transparent these missions are may be up for debate, but their importance must be recognized.
Review:
X-Men Vol. 1 is another powerful addition to this famous series. I think I read at least half the single comics in this volume, if not more. But I’m happy to have read them in this compiled version, and I look forward to reading the rest.
In truth, there’s a lot to process from this volume. We have a team traveling through time, a different team traveling through space, family dynamics, a team dealing with humans, etc. Like I said, it’s a lot.
I have no doubt that all of these events will get connected. Surprisingly, that isn’t even everything that happens in this volume. There’s also an island adventure of sorts (yes, being vague here). It’s…different. I like how different it is. However, the foreboding nature of it all has me very worried.
Long story short, X-Men Vol. 1 is brilliant. I’m so happy to see this different take on the X-Men. It was sorely needed, and while we all know it won’t last (they never do), I’m going to appreciate it while it does.
